crazy may weekend

Posted on: Wednesday, May 26th, 2010 in: announcements, anything under the sun, express highlights, rom

so yes, meoworks had 2 weddings back-to-back, on 22nd & 23rd of may. and our favorite videographer flo had happily fallen sick a few days before. might i first say that for someone with a running fever, a nose that wouldn’t stop leaking AND a head that was throbbing from overdose of panadol (seriously flo, nobody takes THAT much panadol), flo could still shoot as per normal. very impressive. (ya, trying to lap on praises cos i’ve been in her bad books lately, i’m thinking it’s the fever/cold thus she’s cranky. worth a shot anyway)

so on 22nd of may, we shot for Justin & Denise, with Tristan from Tri-angles and the girls from Spellbound Weddings Beautiful simple wedding at a Lutheran church & dinner at Marina Bay Sands - one of the hardest-to-find places, seriously. Yes yes, note to all other videographers/photographers, the AV booth has issues, thus turning our express highlights video into a stop-motion multiple-pauses i don’t know what you call it. Apart from that one problem, everything else was awesome. Great decor, sweet couple & flo-who-keeps-blowing-her-nose. None of Justin’s friends know him as Justin, (they call him Boon Pin) so I overheard “i was driving the wedding planner and she kept saying justin justin, then i asked who’s justin? they said he’s the groom!” and they proceeded to mock and laugh at poor Boon Pin who blushed and ignored them. -laughs. yes Boon Pin is extremely shy.

so we went back for our 4-hour sleep before getting up on sunday 23rd may for Weiliang & Fengyi’s wedding. When we first met them, they told us “refer to us as weiliang and fengyi okay? cos that’s what our friends know us as, nobody knows who is william & grace.” i don’t know what’s up with the couples and their names this weekend…. so anyway, it was a crazy crazy day. rushed home after gatecrashing to take a short nap + edit, then went to goodwood park hotel (our fav hotel because the AV people never mess anything up and the banquet manager is wonderful) to shoot their ROM ceremony before including it into the express highlights to be played later. got everything out by 915pm and was completely exhausted but wide-awake. it was worth it because we got to see their entourage dance in to black eyed peas’ “i’ve got a feeling” and we got to hear weiliang sing on stage to fengyi. she cried, obviously, and it was possibly the best moment of the night. p/s i cried too but nobody saw cos i was busy hiding away from 6 different cameras, yes, they had William Chua , Livestudios and Flo + Sophia (in case anyone is wondering, sophia is caleb’s cousin and yes she has started shooting too).

so yes, we love couples who make us cry. because this is why lack-of-sleep-arms-aching-brain-dying (me), mad-rushing-can’t-think-straight-but-can-shoot-even-when-sick (flo) is so worth it. so how was your weekend? :)

love,
incoherent carrie

48-hour film project 2010

Posted on: Friday, May 7th, 2010 in: anything under the sun, short film

so yes, ever since flo joined this in 2008, i’ve been wanting to as well. last yr’s may we were in australia shooting weddings so this year i decided i shall do it no matter what. apparently, we should not make silent pledges to ourselves like that because “no matter what” turned out to be a lot more than i could take.

it was a horrible & crazy sleepless weekend with a bunch of people i barely know, losing track of time and basically shooting/editing on auto-pilot mode and then crying into the arms of someone i’ve known only for the last 2 days. you can imagine the madness.

of course, in complete honesty, i’m not very pleased with the outcome, but i’ll do it again. flo will be pleased to know that i now agree with her statement of “if you do it with people you care about, when the going gets tough, it’s worth it.” despite stubbornly refusing to listen to everyone prior to the event, but you know me, i need to take it the hard way, i always do.

i’d be lying if i said the experience isn’t still haunting me now although it has been a week. there are times i wake up and want to cry because i remember how difficult it was, but as crazy as the weekend was, it was also surreal and it seemed like 48 hours went by in a blurry haze that cannot be recollected. this also means that all i can remember is how it all made me feel.

p/s: flo forced me to blog about my experience because she apparently has already fulfilled her quota of alternate-blogging-duties and it’s my turn.

so til the next time flo blogs, here’s carrie off to face her nightmares. goodbye.

pp/s: if anyone’s interested in watching the amateur film, email me!

end of april

Posted on: Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 in: announcements, anything under the sun

last wk was spent creating a short film like corporate video on volunteerism in spore. it’s titled ‘heartstrung’ but i prefer to call it ‘ah kong ah ma’ video. we borrowed chris lim’s canon 5dmk2 and had a great time with it. (simply love the bokeh though i’ve probs keeping the cam steady while adjusting the zoom/focus. bah!) final cut of the video is out but i dont think we’ll be putting it online. (darn!)so, we’ll have to make do with photos, if gwen, our producer, does remember to send them over.

-flo

we are still alive, don’t worry.

Posted on: Monday, April 26th, 2010 in: announcements, anything under the sun

in case anyone is wondering, the 2 meoworks cats are still very much alive (although i AM coughing madly and flo seems to be shrinking slightly, but nobody asked, did they?) and we have been spending our time clearing backlog (me) and going on photoshoots (flo). yes, our lives are still functioning…

well, as 2010 draws quickly into may, we’ll be shifting to new premises. yes, we no longer will enjoy the beautiful space at 32A Bali Lane and will now instead be setting up camp at Ang Mo Kio Ave 5 with bryan & jean. do look for us when the space has been done up.

in all other news, do feel free to ask us out (we have mobile phones that CAN receive calls & text messages but if you must be tech-savvy, we are constantly in our email-boxes too). and if anyone must know, flo has been spending a lot of time & money catching toys on those UFO machines so she’s kind of an expert now, and i’ll be picking up the er hu so at least, we can say, one of us can play an instrument.

til the next time, here’s carrie your very lazy blog-updating person. cheers.

long weekend

Posted on: Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 in: anything under the sun

So, how was your long weekend? ours was well spent watching good friends tie the knot.

Mike n Christine flew us up to taiping (via penang airport) a few days before their ceremony and showed us around his hometown, pigging ourselves out half of the time with food and zzzz. :) the wedding in msia was kept simple (except for the tea ceremony as they had to serve tea to manymanymany relatives.) while dinner started and ended promptly. (so pls learn this spore!)

Carrie saw me struggling with the post and complained that all my entries are all incoherent. As a mark of defiance, I am going to end my post here.

BAH!

She may carry on waxing lyrical about our other friends, Gerry and Jeanne.

Hoi An

Posted on: Monday, November 23rd, 2009 in: anything under the sun

Had really enjoyed myself when I was in Vietnam with Sheyin in Aug. So this time round, Carrie and I decided to head to Hanoi, Halong Bay and Hoi An.

Our plane almost couldn’t land at Danang airport (nearest airport to Hoi An) due to the strong winds from the storm. But our pilot did a brilliant job and landed us safely. (i think that he had earned his entire year’s pay for that one flight.)

Hoi An was our fave place due to the floods, old chi shophouses and the world’s best soya bean drinks.

bday wkend and 350

Posted on: Friday, October 23rd, 2009 in: anything under the sun

it’s the bday wkend.

yup, it’ll be carrie’s bday this mon n since she has diligently cleared all her outstanding edits, she’ll have time off.

while work for me has just barely begun.

i’ll be heading down for a shares trading seminar shoot while waikit gets assigned to do the 350 event thingy (which is really the more interesting one.)

for a little background on 350

350.org is an international campaign dedicated to building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis–the solutions that science and justice demand.
Our mission is to inspire the world to rise to the challenge of the climate crisis—to create a new sense of urgency and of possibility for our planet.

Our focus is on the number 350–as in parts per million, the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. But 350 is more than a number–it’s a symbol of where we need to head as a planet.

and about today’s event…

‘On 24 October, people in 181 countries are coming together for the most widespread day of environmental action in the planet’s history. At over 4500 events around the world, people are gathering to call for strong action and bold leadership on the climate crisis.’ and they will be gathering at both hong lim park (in the morning) and lasalle (in the early evening) to form a the number ‘350′

omg. my entry is so dry. urgh.

ECO TV Host Training Wkshop

Posted on: Monday, October 12th, 2009 in: anything under the sun

the weekend was spent at ecosphere where we supported Edvarcl as he conducted a host training wkshop for the hosts at eco tv.

there was much sharing of thai videos (it didn’t matter that we couldnt understand thai), sesame street days and laughter.

to top the 2 days off, the hosts had to go onto the streets of bugis and interview strangers about their thoughts about recycling condoms. :) (and yes, they got alot of stares and gasps, especially when damian decided to make a condom balloon.)

anyway, pics up soon, when i’m not too lazy, that is.

Ck & Casey / Dinah & Roland

Posted on: Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 in: anything under the sun

Yes, i’m back from flu/fever bug and have completed all my work on hand. As Meoworks’ editor, I’m very pleased to announce that I do not attend weddings like Flo does, thus I do not run around on my feet, lug the camera around, etc. All I do is sit on my butt at home and edit. What goodness in life I’ve found.

Anyway, I’ve just finished CK & Casey’s MTV, as well as Dinah & Roland’s MTV. The best thing about my job? Each couple is so uniquely different.. It’s also because Meoworks has now come to point where our couples are really the ones we like, the ones we enjoy. (Am i rambling again?)

So CK & Casey had a splendid grand wedding - ROM was a quiet solemn affair in a ballroom at St. Regis. Caleb & Flo shot make-up/getting ready in the room beautifully and Caleb had his exciting experience going Live in the ballroom during dinner. Teehee. The highlight of their night was the 2nd march in, where friends danced in do Chris Brown’s ‘Forever’ (yes, Flo has already mentioned it, if you don’t know what the famous march-in dance is about, go youtube it) and it was bright, colorful, the lights were great, everyone was having fun (especially the guy who danced in first) and most importantly, CK & Casey looked gorgeous.

And then there’s Dinah & Roland, whom Flo can’t get enough of as you can tell from her previous posts. I think Flo has made it right - remember your first date? the queasy tummy, anticipation, wanting but yet not sure if you should do it. Dinah & Roland are something like that. It’s beautiful watching Roland proclaim his love for Dinah and her not knowing how to respond… so, she says thank you. -laughs. Everything about them is awkward but peaceful - it’s quite certain they have found the best person to fit each others’ souls.
p/s: they met at a bus-stop.

So, it has come to a point in Meoworks that our couples are beautiful like that - each have their own uniqueness and love story. -sigh. I love weddings, and everything about them.

p/s: i suspect flo has a problem cos she has unquenchable thirst. note: must see doc.

from the carrie who’s trying not to ramble

Dinah and Roland’s AD (26th Sept 2009)

Posted on: Friday, October 2nd, 2009 in: anything under the sun

Theirs was a simple and straight forward affair put together by Spellbound Weddings (yup, it’s our first time working together with the girls and they made everything seem like a breeze.)

Theirs is the most relaxing/stress free wedding I’ve ever had for the entire 2009. If only we can have more of such…… day started @ 9am, dinah was already waiting outside the church half hr b4 her scheduled march in, ceremony went smoothly which was followed by a delicious lunch (great cupcakes! moist and tasty. and oh, dinah gave HER cupcake to zhing from spellbound. -shakes head) most amazingly, both dinah and roland made it a point to talk to every single guest even to the point of forsaking their own lunch.

:)

Casey and CK - 19th Sept 2009

Posted on: Sunday, September 27th, 2009 in: anything under the sun, wedding photos

(gorgeous pic by Chris Woon from www.moretopurple.com )

Casey and CK had a relaxing day, Chris and I were only needed at St Regis at 4.30pm (if only all weddings can start so late.) as ROM was only at 6.30pm. So there we were, lazing around their suite in St Regis, remarking on how much Casey’s sister looks like her, catching the occasional footage of Casey being made up, taking up space and getting into everybody’s way…..

The highlight of their night came about during their 2nd march in (no, it’s not b’coz of the ‘pass the parcel’ game) when CK’s colleagues came dancing in to Chris Brown’s ‘Forever’. For those who had watched ‘JK wedding entrance dance’ on youtube, you will know what I’m referring to (if you didn’t, how could u???? it was like the most talked about wedding video……) Their march in ended dramatically when CK spun Casey who was wearing a beautiful red gown 56562 times on the dancefloor. -woots.

We shall wait impatiently for the unwell Carrie to recover and maybe…maybe….upload the unedited version of their march in for us.

I would love to go on about my love-hate r/s with Vietnam but Carrie’s bugging me to get off the net so that we may be in time to meet our client at Bugis. But I will continue with the photos of Mui Ne when I return. :)

Meanwhile, enjoy what’s left of your public holiday!
